Everyone’s always shitting on Comic Sans because, you know, we’re supposed to. But the reason it’s so horrible is because it’s used in places it shouldn’t be, all the time. Comic Sans is meant to be in speech bubbles. That’s actually its purpose. Sure, at this point it’s just so beaten to death that it’s easier to use another type, (or handdraw something), but honestly? No need to jump down any throats right now. And if I were designing an “ancient Egypt” themed, uhh, thingy, I might use Papyrus. I’m not saying that this bubble thing is perfect (although who cares what I think because Erin has a full-time job, obviously doing something right), but I am saying that if there was ever a time to use Comic Sans this is it. I totally used comic sans once for a Sesame Street-themed poster design mockup. And it was appropriate.

People going “OMG COMIC SANS SUCKS” are as annoying as “LOOK AT MY HELVETICA YEAH I SAW THAT MOVIE I LOVE DESIGN.” It’s probably hard, what with you holding up that giant poster print just in case someone comes by with a camera, but sit down. Do not pass go, do not keep calm and carry anything.

There are better alternatives for speech bubbles. And Erin did this just to mess with me. I stand by my original statement: dead to me.
